Install with SideStore
SideStore provides a free non-jailbreak installation route for MGSV:GZ Preservation 1.0.6. The preservation project hosts its own SideStore source on mgsvgz.com; the existing TrollStore / jailbroken installation method remains available separately. iOS 1.0.6 retains the modern-device compatibility proven on iPhone 16 and adds the same level-based console bonus character unlock progression as the Android preservation build.

Open this page on your iPhone and add the official mgsvgz.com source. SideStore will then show the current preservation build and future updates from the same source.
SideStore — no jailbreak
Best for users who want to keep a normal non-jailbroken iPhone. SideStore requires a one-time computer setup, an Apple Account and periodic refreshes under Apple's free signing limits.
TrollStore / jailbreak
The existing IPA download remains available for compatible jailbroken or TrollStore-capable iPhones. This route avoids SideStore's seven-day free-signing refresh cycle where TrollStore is supported.
Install SideStore once
SideStore itself is a third-party sideloading project. Its current official setup requires iOS 15.0 or later, a passcode, Wi-Fi, an Apple Account and access to a Windows, macOS, Linux or supported Chromebook computer for the initial installation.

Read the official SideStore prerequisites
Install the required LocalDevVPN app and follow SideStore's current prerequisites before connecting the iPhone to the computer.

Install SideStore — use Nightly if Stable cannot connect
Start with SideStore's official iLoader setup. During preservation testing on an iPhone 16, the default Stable build installed by iLoader would not connect successfully to Apple services; installing SideStore Nightly resolved the problem. If Stable cannot sign in or connect to your Apple Account, install the current Nightly build instead. Nightly is a pre-release build, so if Stable works normally there is no need to switch.

Connect LocalDevVPN
SideStore requires its local VPN connection whenever you install, update or refresh sideloaded apps. Connect LocalDevVPN before continuing.

Sign in and refresh SideStore
Open SideStore, sign in with the Apple Account used during setup, open My Apps and refresh SideStore so the expiry counter returns to seven days.

Return to this page in Safari after SideStore is working.

Tap the button below. SideStore should open and offer to add the MGSV:GZ Preservation source hosted directly on mgsvgz.com.

Install iOS Preservation 1.0.6
Open the MGSV:GZ Preservation listing in SideStore and tap Install. SideStore signs the IPA with the user's Apple Account and installs it on that iPhone. Version 1.0.6 includes the restored level-based console bonus character unlocks.

Launch online and register
Open the app while connected to the internet, create a callsign and enter Mother Base normally.

Keep the app signed
With a free Apple Account, SideStore shows a seven-day expiry counter for sideloaded apps. Refreshing renews the signing period; it is not the same as deleting and reinstalling the app.

Refresh before expiry
Connect LocalDevVPN, open SideStore and refresh MGSV:GZ before its counter reaches zero. SideStore can also attempt background refreshes when configured correctly.

If the signature expires
The app may stop opening until it is refreshed/re-signed. Do not delete it merely because the signing period expired.

Do not delete an iPhone Mother Base you need
iOS Mother Base progression is currently stored locally. Refreshing or updating the same installed app should preserve its application data, but deleting the app can remove that local save. The preservation project therefore recommends refreshing/updating in place and treating Delete App as destructive.

Add button does nothing
SideStore must already be installed. If it is not, complete the official SideStore setup first.
Cannot sign in / connect to Apple services
If the Stable SideStore build installed by iLoader cannot connect, install the current SideStore Nightly build instead. This fixed the issue during the project's iPhone 16 SideStore test. Nightly is pre-release software, so use Stable when it works correctly.

The original direct IPA download remains on the Download page for TrollStore and compatible jailbreak setups.
Install / refresh fails
Confirm LocalDevVPN is connected, Wi-Fi is available and SideStore itself is still signed. If Apple-account authentication is the failure point, see the Nightly note above.
SideStore source will not add
You can manually add https://mgsvgz.com/sidestore/source.json as a source from within SideStore.
Prefer TrollStore or a jailbreak?
The jailbreak/TrollStore instructions have not been removed. They remain available for compatible phones and firmware.
